The High Point Cross Country Ski Center is
CLOSED, and it is still raining. The
temperature this morning is 38F. There are several bare patches, and
with the continued warm temperatures in the forecast the ski operation will
open again if we receive more snow before the end of March. We
use a Prinoth snowcat to groom and during limited snow cover we use a snowmobile, roller, and track setter. Stay tuned
for ski condition updates early in the morning or late at night.

Due to the higher elevation High Point Cross Country Ski Center usually as a
"rule of thumb" has temperatures 10 F colder than New York City and 5 F colder
than the nearby towns. The 5" snowfall on 16 Oct, '09 was unseasonably early,
and we always aim for season openings the first week of December and closing towards
the end of March. Our experienced guess for last day of skiing will be 14 March,
but hope the snow last longer. For skiing in April and May you have to
head for the higher mountains.
